The year was 2094, and mankind had reach new peaks, far superior to what they once were. Under the great organization of Worlds Scientists Association, WSA, did they dabble on the realms above humans, many said they opposed god, and other said it was the natural evolution of humans.

They created the Augmentation; the absolute peak of genetics and cybernetics that was implanted in humans. The first subjects were catastrophic, causing dangerous side-effects that could end with death; it became a topic of heavy moral views and it was about to get forbidden as a breakthrough was made.

 

They succeeded to implant a Augmentation in a human being without any side-effects and it was the first of many and the world rejoiced over the evolution. Even if it was a still a hot topic had it nearly no impact anymore, as the society of the earth slowly came to accept it.

 

It became something wondrous, a gift for few people that could afford it. A power that granted their bodies superior abilities, their minds stronger than anything and nature bend under their wills. 

They were called AUG:s, those with Augmentations, and it made society prosper even more. However, like a gun that was created to protect and care for, it soon got abused as a weapon, for killing.

 

It started as a terrorist attack twenty years after the creation of Augmentations and shook the greatest nations in the world simultaneously; US, Russia, China and many more nations was struck. No one knew who the one responsibly behind it was; instead of seeking the truth, they attack each other. Russia was the first nation to implant Augmentations in a few elite soldiers, and soon all others did. War were already nightmare, but when soldiers, those AUG:ers, joined the fields did it turn to a hell.

 

Those living weapons could level entire armies and cities by their own; they were the most effective weapons in the history of mankind, humans with powers of gods and devils. And the world was painted in blood and flames; it was the" Burning World". Under five years was it Total War, no one spared and nothing was shown mercy; man, woman and child were all destroyed without a single thought, leaving death and despair all over the world.

 

Five years of unnecessary slaughter on all sides, revenge gave birth to more revenge and the drastic measures to fight one and another got just more dangerous; and as the peak was reach that could lay waste to the entire earth, did she appear.

 

No one knew her name, no one remembered her appearance; only that a woman, with warm light emitting from her body as she entered the bloodiest field, and a singing voice that echoed through the sky of burning smoke and bullets. Soldiers still remember the sincere aura that caused all pain and hatred to vanish slowly.

 

And then it was light. From the woman emitted a light so strong that it raised like waves from her, and covered the entire planet in an instant. And for a moment, it was silence. The chaotic hatred and revenge that had defiled the human mind was cleansed, and all Augmentations were destroyed, leaving only humans left, empty and in despair over what had happened.

 

It was the day called The Cleansing, when all madness was shattered like a mirror, leaving only a world in shattered pieces after a horrifying war. Mankind slowly rebuilt their nations and the earth that they had nearly destroyed, and a trembling peace grew with it; what they all had done would never be forgotten, but they had been given a new chance to save themselves, and mostly, those that would come.

 

Many AUG:ers that once were heroes under the war turned into mass-murders and criminals of war; however, many except the fewest were still protected by laws and rules. Yet many seeks to imprison them all for those crimes, and any AUG:er live in fear of it. Yet, it was their children that would truly evolve beyond what AUG:ers once was.

 

A year after the cleansing was the first child born with natural Augmentations; and soon many more was born, children to AUG:ers all over the world, that had lost their Augmentations, but still held their genetic codes that was transferred to their off springs. They were purely genetic, a natural power and evolution.

 

As soon her daughter had been born with those powers, did Elizabeth Van Lazarus III spend everything she had and could get to create a home, a place where those children could learn to understand their powers and the world; she created Luminance Garden, a school for those children, as well for former AUG:ers that needed to cope with their lost of their powers and hatred that haunted them.

 

Now 30 years have passed since the Burning World, and the earth is still scorned by its battles, yet a trembling peace still holds up, as more and more children are born with those natural powers. They were soon called Degeneration, as mankind saw them with fear and awe, a devolution of man and lesser beings that could create a new war.

 

However, the correct term have many time been lost, as Rikk Ondara named them in his theories;  D.E.G, DNA Evolutional Generation – The new generation that will spread their wings and fly while mankind looks up in awe.
